Police have appealed for help in tracing a man following a stabbing near Aldgate East Tube station.

The 26-year-old victim was found suffering from stab wounds in Tyne Street, just metres away from the bus and Underground station. He was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Officers on Tuesday released images of a man they wish to speak to regarding the incident, which happened at about 6.30pm on Sunday, August 5.

The suspect is reportedly a Somali man in his 30s who goes by the street name ‘Taz’, according to Scotland Yard.

He is described as skinny and about 5ft 11ins tall, wearing a grey tracksuit, black cap and Nike Air Max 95 trainers at the time of the stabbing.

He is alleged to be homeless and known to frequent Liverpool Street, Commercial Street and Brick Lane, occasionally sleeping in the yard at Christ Church Spitalfields.

Enquiries continue with no arrests made.
