Shocking CCTV footage showing a brave shop worker fighting off a robber armed with a large knife in a newsagent in Bow has been released today.
The worker, who is in his 30s, suffered minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment after the robber fled the shop in Roman Road, at around 6am yesterday morning.
The video shows the robber entering the shop before pulling out a carrier bag and large knife and demanding the worker hands over cash.
However he flees empty handed after a struggle between the pair which sees the shop worker escape into the streets.
A relative of the shop owner, who wishes to be anonymous, gave the CCTV footage to the Advertiser in the hope that the suspect will be identified.
Police today have appealed for anyone with information about the man captured in the clip to come forward.
