A 36-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.
She was arrested at her home in Tower Hamlets at around 6am as part of the Operation Elveden investigation into alleged payments to public officials made by journalists.
The woman, who is also being held on suspicion of money laundering, was being held at an east London police station on Tuesday morning.
Her arrest, along with a further arrest of a 37-year-old man from south Wales, took the total number of people detained during the operation to 64.
Operation Elvedon is being supervised by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
