Four men have been charged following last week’s armed police raid on an Old Ford Road housing block.

Shahen Ahmed, aged 20, of Stevedore Street, Poplar, Mohammed Hussain, aged 19, of Blair Street, Poplar, Mofijur Rahman, aged 44, of Hackney Road, Shoreditch, and Noor Miah, aged 58, of Old Ford Road, Bow, appeared last Thursday at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The men were charged with kidnap, blackmail and false imprisonment. Ahmed was also charged with grievous bodily harm.

All four were remanded in custody and will appear at Southwark Crown Court on June 7.

A team from the Met’s kidnap unit raided a flat in Jossiline Court, off St Stephen’s Road, on Tuesday March 29 at about 9.30am. They rescued a man in his 20s, who was taken to a central London hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police today said he had been released.
