A 54-year-old woman was found dead by in Shadwell by Tower Hamlets Police last night.
Police have confirmed they were called to an address in Shadwell yesterday evening.
A 58 year old man was arrested at the scene and a forensic examination took place at the venue. But the death is so far being treated as unexplained, according to police.
A post mortem is currently taking place at Poplar Coroners Court, where an inquest is due to be open later.
Detective Inspector Cliff Jones, from the Community Safety Unit, said, “We are open-minded as to the cause of death and it is being treated as unexplained. We are not looking for anyone else in relation to the investigation at this time”.
