Counter-terrorism officers have searched four homes in east London this afternoon after five men were arrested yesterday close to the Sellafield nuclear site.
The five men, all aged in their 20s and all from London, were arrested by Cumbrian officers and are believed to have been taking photographs of the site.
They were arrested under section 41 of the Terrorism Act.
Today Met police officers launched the home searches on behalf of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit and a spokeswoman said the searches were ongoing.
The five men were transported to Manchester this morning as officers continue their investigation.
