The director of a campaign group has been charged with failing to disclose his password after he was detained at Heathrow Airport.

Muhammad Rabbani, who lives in Bethnal Green and runs Cage, was arrested after he was stopped by officers using counter-terrorism stop-and-search powers last November.

The 36-year-old attended an east London police station today where he was charged with wilfully obstruct, or sought to frustrate, an examination or search under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, contrary to paragraph 18(1)(c) of that Schedule”.

He will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 20.

Cage describes itself as an “independent advocacy organisation working to empower communities impacted by the War on Terror”.
