AN East End man has been handed 120 hours of community work and a suspended sentence for selling fake DVDs.

Mr Feng Lin He, 36, of Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, pleaded guilty to two counts of selling goods with a false trademark at Brick Lane Sunday Up-Market on Sunday (December 12).

He was sentenced at Thames Magistrates Court on Monday (13th December).

Officers from the Whitechapel town centre team swooped on the counterfeit salesman at the market and following a further search at his home found 2,500 DVDs along with 10,000 DVD cellophane covers and 1,000 printed DVD covers.

PC Brendan O’Rourke, from the team, said: “We are working closely with the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) and Trading Standards in Tower Hamlets to reduce the supply of these illegal and poor quality DVDs onto the streets.”
