Detectives called on members of the public to assist them with their investigation into the suspected murder of a pensioner in her care home room.
Officers visited Sonali Gardens sheltered accommodation to appeal for information following the death of 89-year-old Margery Gilbey, who was allegedly strangled and stabbed in the neck in her room during an aggravated burglary.
The brutal attack took place in Mrs Gilbey’s first floor room on the afternoon of Friday May 24, it is alleged.
And cops looking for witnesses distributed appeals and listened to residents’ concerns during a visit to the home, in Sutton Street, Shadwell, on Friday.
A 17-year-old youth from Romford appeared at the Old Bailey on May 29. He was remanded in custody to appear at Stratford Youth Court on June 24.
