A driver who reversed along a motorway after missing a junction has escaped with a fine and three points on his licence.

Mahbi Mirroch, of Newton Place on the Isle of Dogs, missed the junction to join the M25 while driving on the M11 motorway near Harlow, Essex.

The 33-year-old French national tried to remedy the problem in the unconventional way of reversing along the road during the journey in March, Chelmsford Magistrates Court heard on Thursday.

He admitted to driving in reverse on a motorway, and was fined £60 and handed three penalty points. He also had to pay £20 costs.
