A TOWER Hamlets councillor has been rebailed after being arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Shelina Akhtar, a councillor for Spitalfields and Banglatown ward, appeared at an east London police station today but will now return again on December 24.
The 32-year-old was arrested on November 9 after an allegation of sub-letting a housing association property was made to Tower Hamlets police.
A 21-year-old woman was also arrested.
Ms Akhtar last month told the Advertiser she would wait until the investigation is over to make further comments but insisted: “I’m clean.”
