Detectives investigating the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Bethnal Green have released CCTV footage in a bid to trace a man they suspect of attacking her.
The 15-year-old was walking along Bethnal Green Road, close to the junction with Jersey Street, at around 12.10pm on Wednesday, July 19, when a man approached her from the opposite direction and sexually assaulted her.
He was caught on CCTV as he walked off along Bethnal Green Road onto Cambridge Heath Road.
Officers are appealing for anyone who recognises the man to come forward.
Det Con Thomas Patzer said: “I need to identify the man shown in the CCTV footage. I urge anyone who may know his identity, or who witnessed the incident, to contact police.”

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 30s with short brown hair and a goatee beard.
He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark green trousers and red flip flops, and carried a sports bag over his right shoulder.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
