Two Isle of Dogs dealers have been sentenced for drugs offences following a police probe into a violent assault.

Conor Armstrong, 26, and Steven Brissett, 20, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Armstrong, of Byng Street, was jailed yesterday for three years and two months having also entered pleas to assault and dangerous driving.

He was identified as a suspect for an attack on a 31-year-old man in Hackney Road in December 2014, which left the victim needing stitches to his face.

Investigating officers discovered his “extensive involvement” in supplying cannabis alongside Brissett, according to Scotland Yard.

Brissett, of Byng Street, admitted to being a street dealer after a search of his home address in December 2017 unearthed half a kilo of weed.

More than £6,000 in cash was recovered from Brissett after his arrest, and a further £25,000 from an address linked to Armstrong in Greenhithe, Kent.

Brissett received a suspended sentence of 16 months.

“An investigation into a violent offender uncovered a network of drug supply,” said Pc Jon Privett of Tower Hamlets CID.

“Both offenders have now been convicted and we hope this reduces the level of drug fuelled violence on the streets of Tower Hamlets.”
