Yesterday detectives appealed for information after a 26-year-old woman suffered life-changing burns to her face and leg after she had acid thrown at her on Wednesday as she walked in Westferry Road just before 7pm.

It has emerged today that an Asian man was also attacked that evening as he left Crossharbour DLR station with his friends.

The victim had an alkaline solution thrown at him at around 7.30pm and was rushed to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries to his face before being discharged.

According to an email seen by the East London Advertiser the suspects were two white men who were at the scene in a Volkswagen car.

Both were aged between 20 – 22 and around 5ft 10ins tall.

One was dressed in a grey hooded top with a baseball cap and the other was wearing a blue jacket and had a short beard.

This attack is being investigated by the British Transport Police while the Met Police are probing the acid attack on the woman.

Detectives are not currently connecting the two attacks.

Earlier this month Tower Hamlets Council launched an ‘acid charter’ for traders in the borough.

By signing the charter shopkeepers pledge to not sell acid or corrosive household products over the counter to customers under 18 or without proper proof of identity.
