A police officer has appeared in court today in London’s East End on charges related to fraud, Scotland Yard has revealed.

Pc Leonard Rotimi Fadahunsi, 40, who is based in the Met’s Tower Hamlets division, was in the dock at Thames Magistrates Court facing five charges of obtaining a pecuniary advantage through using false documents to join the police force.

The charges include making an untrue statement to obtain a passport and providing false information concerning the registration of birth.

Pc Fadahunsi, who has been suspended from duty, was remanded in custody when he first appeared on March 23 and returned to court today.
