Police and local authority officers have been out and about meeting the public again in their continued campaign to tackle street crime and yob behaviour in London’s East End.
The walkabout through the streets of Bow for the second time in a month follows a community surgery on Friday arranged by Tower Hamlets Council to raise awareness of community issues.
“These walkabouts and surgeries bring councillors, police and community professionals together,” a Town Hall spokesman said. “They look at crime and anti-social issues and how to address them.”
Joining the officers were council outreach and youth workers and housing professionals from Tower Hamlets Homes and Circle Old Ford Housing looking at areas where crime has been reported around Roman Road and Tredegar Road.
A similar exercise with the new Met Police borough Commander Andy Ewing was carried out two weeks before in Bow and Mile End which included Heylyn Square, Guerin Square, Tredeger Square and Mile End Park.
