Police were called to reports of the cyclist allegedly having been assaulted in Sidney Street.

The woman, in her early 40s, turns into Sidney Street from Whitechapel Road—but fails to stop for a pedestrian on a crossing by roadworks.

She is heard on her helmet camera recording saying, “Please don’t try and knock me off”, then continues cycling on without stopping at the crossing.

The man, thought to be in his 40s as well, responds by calling out “shut up”.

But then he chases her on foot for a block towards the corner of Adelina Grove, where the confrontation escalates.

The man is heard on her video saying: “Come on, then—you wanna put your finger up at me? You mug!”

The cyclist claims the man pushed her off the bike in the traffic.

Her video appears to show her falling over onto the road, with cars passing close by, while he is waving his arms at her.

“Fortunately, she managed to get out of the road and move to safety out of the way of traffic,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

“The woman was very upset following the assault, but did not require medical treatment.”

She was able to contact police and downloaded the footage of the incident recorded on her helmet camera.

Police now want to interview the man and are appealing for anyone who knows who he is to call 101 quoting 180410, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
