An aspiring fitness instructor has been caught with 2,000 tablets of the party drug TFMPP—said to have a similar effect to ecstasy.

Hassan Farah, 21, stashed the pills in his bedroom—but police discovered the hoard when they raided his family’s home at Farthing Fields in Wapping, in London’s East End

The pills had a street value of £6,000, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

“It’s on a commercial scale and there is an expectation of significant gain,” said prosecutor Gerard Renouf.

“He told officers he had 200 ecstasy tablets—but it was more like 2,000.

“Police found a tennis ball-sized bag, two plastic bags, a rucksack and a clear plastic bag all containing pills. They also found digital scales.”

Forensic analysis showed the pills to be TFMPP, usually sold as ecstasy, the court heard.

Farah’s lawyer Helen Valley claimed he bought drugs jointly with friends and was regularly using ecstasy on a social basis when they went clubbing—on this occasion there was a bulk purchase “for the first time.”

The lawyer pointed out: “No money at all was recovered from his bedroom—he appears to be living modestly, sharing a room with his older brother at his mother’s home.

“There’s no suggestion of dealing to third parties for profit.”

The scales found in the flat date back to when he occasionally smoked cannabis, the lawyer added.

Farah, who had started a course to become a gym and fitness instructor, admitted possessing a class C drug last July with intent to supply and is being sentenced on February 11.
