A police officer has been jailed after admitting perverting the course of justice following a car crash in Limehouse in which he pretended to be the driver.
Pc Miladur Khan was covering for his brother who didn’t have motor insurance.
But he was caught out on CCTV camera in Burdett Road showing he was a passenger.
The 30-year-old officer, attached to the Met’s East Area Command Unit, was sentenced to six months when he appeared yesterday at Southwark Crown Court after previously pleading guilty to perverting justice on May 2.
Two vehicles in collision in Burdett Road were recorded on a traffic camera on June 29 last year.

Pc Khan claimed to be one of the drivers. But the footage from Tower Hamlets Council’s monitoring centre on the Isle of Dogs confirmed he was not driving at the time of the crash.
He later admitted he was protecting his brother and was suspended from duty. A misconduct hearing is to take place now the court case is over, Scotland Yard said today.
