A robber who stole a mobile phone from a female ticket inspector after she told him his Oyster card was invalid has been sentenced.
Sanu Miah was at Crossharbour Docklands Light Railway station when he lashed out at the inspector, pinning her against a wall and stealing her phone before fleeing the scene shouting and swearing.
The 24-year-old, of Glengall Grove, on the Isle of Dogs, was handed a one year community order, 300 hours unpaid work, as well as a £1,500 fine covering compensation and legal costs at Thames Magistrates Court on Monday.
Investigating officer Det Con Paul Miller, of the British Transport Police, said: “This was an intimidating and frightening experience for a member of staff who was simply doing her job.”
