A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after a string of sexual assaults in the area around Poplar, Limehouse and Canary Wharf.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Thursday after attending an east London police station. He has since been bailed to a date in late November pending further enquiries.
Officers launched an appeal for information last month after nine women were sexually assaulted over five weeks in the E14 area, particularly around Blackwall Way in Poplar.
The attacks involved “sexual touching” and took place between 6.30pm and 8.40pm from September 6 to October 11, according to the Met
Extra patrols continue in the area and officers urge anyone, especially women walking alone, to “remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings”.
