Detectives investigating the killing of cyclist Wayne Stockdale who was shot in London’s East End while riding to a friend just seconds away have arrested a third man.
Officers from Operation Trident arrested the 22-year-old at Green Lanes in Stoke Newington. He was detained at a police station in East London overnight, but has since been bailed to return for further questioning on November 7.
Wayne, a 42-year-old printer from Poplar, was shot riding his bike near Devons Road in Bromley-by-Bow on May 6 while cycling to meet a friend less than 30 seconds away. Detectives said he was a victim of mistaken identity. He died four days later in the Royal London Hospital from gunshot wounds to the head.
A youth of 19 arrested on May 26 in connection with the shooting was given police bail until September 20. A second man, a 27-year-old arrested on June 10, was bailed until September 13.
