Three men have been charged with religiously aggravated criminal damage after allegedly painting burkas onto posters of women in Whitechapel.
Mohammad Hasnath, 19, of Blair Street, Poplar, Ricardo McFarlane, 24, of Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead and a 17-year-old man are all charged with six counts of the offence.
On Saturday, posters along New Road were painted on and the faces of women on some were daubed out.
There was �100 worth of damage to a window.
The three men were due to appear at Thames magistrates’ court yesterday.
