Three projects in Tower Hamlets are receiving funding from the mayor as part of his anti-knife crime initiative.
Sadiq Khan is injecting £1.15 million into 34 projects across London to crack down on violent crime, and Tower Hamlets will be receiving £131,646 of it.
Ocean Youth Connexions is a youth hub based in Stepney, which was set up to tackle the issues of vandalism, anti-social behaviour and low educational attainment in the borough. It’ll be getting £50,000 to deliver two six-month outreach projects. They’ll reach 60 young people who are engaged in or at risk of engaging in knife crime around the Ocean Estate.
The Crib, which works across Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Islington, will be receiving £47,000 to train young people and parents to deliver workshops. They’ll be delivered in educational institutions, youth hubs and community centres to 1,000 people across the three boroughs.
There’ll also be £34,646 for Streets of Growth, which is based in the Isle of Dogs. The charity seeks out young people who are at risk, and coaches them to build their ambitions. The money will go to 50 high-risk young people on three estates, and will fund coaching support, life skills workshops and anti-social behaviour awareness workshops.
