The man accused of killing his father and a lodger by setting a fire in Shadwell a week ago appeared at the Old Bailey today.
Aaron Bhasin, 52, is charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life, following the deaths of Ram Bhasin, 80, and Indian sales executive, Sunil Koosuru, 29.
Both men died of smoke inhalation in the fire at the father’s maisonette in Chapman Street which emergency services attended at around 1.20am.
Mr Bhasin appeared in court by video link from prison for the short bail hearing and no bail application was made.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing on June 16.
