A 47-year-old woman has been arrested in east London on suspicion of terrorism, Scotland Yard has confirmed.
Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command arrested the woman “at a residential address” this morning under the 2000 Terrorism Act and Section 1 of the 1977 Criminal Law Act “on suspicion of conspiring with others to fund and support terrorism”.
The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into the funding of terrorism in Syria, according to a Scotland Yard source.
It is not linked to any other arrests made yesterday in London, the Met stressed. The woman remains in custody in a south London police station.
