A 30-YEAR-OLD woman is in hospital in a serious but stable condition after she was attacked at the junction of St Stephen’s Road and Alice Lane in Bow yesterday (Wednesday).
Cops were called at 4.35pm and found the woman suffering injuries to her head, wrists and stomach. Officers closed the roads surrounding the incident and cordons were in place until 8pm.
A man was arrested in connection with the assault the same day.
Newton Lawrence, 72, of Tait Court, St Stephens Road, was today charged with attempted murder, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday).
