CHILDREN from Cubitt Town Infants School hunted down the back of sofas and in pockets for those elusive loose pennies to collect for Children in Need.

The 270 pupils from the reception class up to year two at the Manchester Road school brought in the cash to put on Pudsey and his Pal to so their bit for the annual national fund-raiser.

Teacher Sandy Pennock said: "We did it last year as well. Because of the rain this year we had our picture Pusdey in the school hall for them to cover with pennies. We did an assembly about Children in Need and some of the children brought in pots of pennies."

Bank staff have volunteered to count up the cash to see how much they have raised for the charity.
