Detectives are issuing a CCTV image in an appeal this week for public help to track down two men who beat up a customer in a newsagent’s in Poplar.

The 26-year-old customer was a victim in what police have called “a sustained assault” who later needed metal plates inserted into his face.

He had got involved in an argument with a woman at 1am on Saturday, February 25 when he was attacked by the men who were with her in the shop in East India Dock Road.

The first attacker is white, age 35 to 40, around 5ft 11ins tall with greying hair, and was wearing a black jacket and a white T-shirt. The second, also white, is 25-30, same height, with short dark hair, wearing a navy jacket and black T-shirt.

Detectives are urging anyone recognising them or has information to call Tower Hamlets CID on 101, or tweeting at @MetCC or calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 (crimestoppers-uk.org).
