A cyclist who tragically died in a collision with a lorry in Stepney was a popular courier for a sandwich deli in Shadwell.
A cyclist who tragically died in a collision with a lorry in Stepney was a popular courier for a sandwich deli in Shadwell.
The man, who was believed to have been in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision with a lorry in Commercial Road at rush hour yesterday (Thursday) morning.
He was an employee of Darwin’s Deli in Barnardo Street, Shadwell, just metres from the scene of the collision.
Colleagues described him as a “happy and friendly guy” who was “always smiling”.

A male lorry driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but has since been bailed. Commercial Road remained closed in both directions for several hours yesterday morning.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Road Death Investigation Unit on 0208 597 4874.
