On-screen royalty Dame Helen Mirren was in front of the camera promoting a Shadwell community project last weekend.

Dame Helen, who lives in Wapping, appeared at Glamis adventure playground in Shadwell to help shoot a video backing the work of the project.

The scheme relies entirely on charitable donations and grants, and the video is being produced in order to encourage companies, charities and philanthropists to support its work.

Dame Helen spent close to an hour at the site, speaking with children and parents about the role of the playground and the importance of children having access to outdoor spaces.

The video is to be released in early November, For more information about the project, visit www.shadwellcommunityproject.org.
