YOUNGSTERS have been messing about with boats learning how to make the kind of sailing craft our ancient ancestors used.
Craft expert Damian Goodburn, who knows all about ancient woodworking techniques, showed them how to make small coracles used by the Ancient Britons before Roman times, using animal skins round wooden flames to make them float.
His workshops were part of a weekend of fun for kids at the Museum of London Docklands in East London.
The children also made their own version of Roman lamps which were used to light homes in ancient London when it was called Londinium 2,000 years ago.
The museum in West India Quay on the Isle of Dogs was celebrating archaeological discoveries dug up in London and the River Thames.
