UNIVERSITY students in East London have today been celebrating one of their mates winning Saturday's finals of Britain's Got Talent TV show.
More than 19 million viewers saw Ashley Banjo, lead dancer in the winning group Diversity, win the finals without realising he's a science boffin at heart.
He is in his second year of physics at London University's Queen Mary College in Mile End who is usually poring over his studies.
But his life changed overnight when Diversity won the �100,000 top prize.
SENSATION
The 11-strong dance sensation beat favourite Susan Boyle.
Ashley, the group's leader and choreographer, formed the all-boy troupe two years ago at his mother's East London street-dance studio in Dagenham.
"I had my speech ready to congratulate Susan Boyle," said Ashley. "But when the judges said 'Diversity' my legs actually gave way-I'm tall, so it's a long way to fall!"
The group has already been lined up to perform at next month's Wireless Festival in Hyde Park along with Kayne West and Alesha Dixon.
They also star in the Royal Variety Performance as part of their prize, as well as go on the 'Britain's Got Talent' tour.
