Spitalfields Market is to host a day of activities in April as part of a festival celebrating the contribution of the Huguenots to the area.
The event is part of the ‘Huguenots of Spitalfields’ festival, held to celebrate the contribution made by French refugee silk-weavers when they settled here in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Weaving classes and demonstrations as well as more than 60 market stalls are to be on offer in the celebrations.
Revellers with a curious streak will also be given the chance to take up a guided walk around Spitalfields to take in the area’s historic sites.
The ‘Big Weave’ celebrations will be held throughout Saturday April 13.
