TOP insurance City underwriters 'did a runner' when they swapped suits for sneakers.

They battled it out in a marathon relay for the Samaritans emotional support charity.

Each runner raced a mile along the Ornamental Canal in Wapping, in London's East End, to complete a full marathon for Lloyd's Charity Challenge yesterday afternoon (June 26).

Team members competed against each other to cross the finishing line first with the aim of being crowned 'fastest city runner.'

Their target was raising £10,000 for Samaritans.

The fastest 'city runner' title went to Declan Marshall who completed the mile in just six-and-a-half minutes.

The 'One Mile Marathon' is one of the fundraising events with 11 teams from Lloyd's of London taking part in the month-long charity contest. The team raising the most money will be crowned 'Challenge Champions' at the final event on July 8.
