TREASURY Minister Stephen Timms has visited East London in his role as Minister for Digital Britain’ to learn how one charity is using technology to help the homeless get a fresh start.

He toured Canning Town’s Anchor House after its success in winning the Charity Times award for best use of technology.

The East Ham MP chatted with residents (pictured) to see the benefits they gain from the 6 million modernisation programme.

The Anchor House centre in the Barking Road uses communications technology to help the homeless develop their self-esteem and acquire skills to take control of their lives.
