BOGUS callers have been preying on elderly East Enders, the police have warned.
At least three pensioners fell victim to scams on April Fools Day as burglars posing as utility company officials blagged their way into homes in Commercial Road, Galbraith Street and Buxton Street.
The impostors posed as workmen claiming three was a flood or water failure in the pensioners' homes and that the taps needed checking.
One thief would keep the householder talking while the other searched the home and stole property.
All the victims were aged over 70 and police have described the bogus callers as white men aged 20-45.
