The District Line is to run more frequently as of December to tackle delays.
London Underground announced today that more trains will run on the Wimbledon branch in the south west which should make the entire line more reliable.
The service runs through a large part of Tower Hamlets, from Tower Hill to Bromley-by-Bow but a ‘bottle-neck’ effect at Earl’s Court is the cause of most delays.
Weekday services to Kensington Olympia will be re-routed to Wimbledon and transport bosses say this will speed up the entire service as the Wimbledon branch sees nearly 30 per cent of District Line traffic.
The line will be completely upgraded with new air-conditioned trains from 2013 and a new signalling system in 2018.
