This overdue launch, just eight months before Brexit Day on March 29 2019, comes after consistent pressure from the People’s Alliance of Tower Hamlets (PATH) and Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats.

On two occasions in 2017, and again in 2018, I submitted a motion at full council calling for Mayor Biggs to prepare Tower Hamlets for Brexit, but the Labour Party did not consider the subject worthy of debate.

Clearly, John Biggs was not thinking of fundamental issues such as the free movement of labour, access to the European market or the potential loss of business rates, due to companies moving out of Canary Wharf having a devastating impact on both the council’s budget and the loss of jobs for residents.
