A LIFEBOAT crew launched on the Thames to rescue a dog reported trapped on the foreshore by the Tower of London—only to see it swim off before they got there.
The cocker spaniel had jumped into the water from a passing river cruiser and ended up trapped by the incoming tide by Traitors’ Gate.
The dog appeared stressed, running up and down, when it was spotted by a security officer at Tower Bridge who raised the alarm at 5.30pm on Sunday.
The Tower rescue lifeboat set off, but the animal jumped back in the water and dog-paddled its way to Tower Pier where day-trippers managed to hauled it out of the water.
The dog was later reunited with its owner—none the worst for its experience.
