‘Double take’ as Liverpool Street rail commuters make time for breakfast

Picnickers took over a corner of Liverpool Street station this morning for a guerrilla-style breakfast for commuters on their way to the office.
Passengers arriving from East London and Essex made a ‘double take’ when a giant picnic blanket was put down for them to have a quick bite before heading into work.
Promoters from a high-street fresh-food outlet laid on drinks, sandwiches, salads and flatbreads all under 400 calories.
“We’re all guilty of not taking time out to enjoy lunch,” Greggs’ director Malcolm Copland said. “So we wanted to make sure for one morning commuters coming into Liverpool Street sat down to enjoy 10 minutes for some fresh food.”
It was a bit of a change from the once-traditional British Railways cafeteria ‘curly cheese’ sandwich.

The publicity stunt follows a study revealing that we Brits are working an extra 19 days a year because we don’t take our full lunch break.
