TWO drivers had a lucky escape after their cars smashed into each other this morning on an East End road.

One of the male drivers had to be cut out of his mangled car by firefighters after the two vehicles crashed on the junction of Tredegar Road and Wick Lane near the A12 in Bow at 6am.

Bow fire station's watch manager Paul Eastland said it was "amazing" that the two drivers escaped the smash unharmed.

But one of the drivers was still taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel to be checked-out.
