The Duchess of Cornwall paid a lightening visit to London’s East End today for an early start to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
She arrived at Spitalfields urban farm to meet pupils from nearby Thomas Buxton primary school and families from the area who are taking part in a ‘healthy salad’ course learning sustainable food growing.
The Duchess toured the farm off Brick Lane looking at the animals and seemed particularly delighted at two white swans waddling up to greet her.
The royal visit lasted an hour in the warm sunshine. She was also greeted by Tower Hamlets First Citizen and council chairman Rajib Ahmed in his second week of office, and by Bethnal Green & Bow MP Rushanara Ali and former Tower Hamlets Olympics ambassador Wais Islam.
