An old boozer is to start serving at weekends from an outside bar when it reopens in London’s East End after a 120,000 facelift.
The outside bar has been installed on the forecourt of Aldgate’s remodelled Duke of Somerset which reopens at noon on Sunday.
The pub in Little Somerset Street, off Aldgate High Street, was always closed at weekends because main trade was weekday City office workers in the Square Mile.
But the coming summer of sport with Euro 2012 and the Olympics has persuaded manager Sarah Hearsant-Wood and the Stonegate Pub Company to start seven-day trading.
