Binmen scooped up a-quarter-of-a-million plastic bottles from the streets of the East End after Sunday’s London Marathon, in Tower Hamlets council’s biggest clean-up of the year.
Nearly half the 26.2-mile course winds its way through Tower Hamlets, between Tower Bridge and the Isle of Dogs, where contractors collected six-and-a-half tonnes of plastic bottles—all to be recycled.
