DOCTORS and medical campaigners are holding a public meeting next month on the threat to the future of the NHS in London's deprived East End.
Health service conditions are critical in Britain's third-most deprived borough, say organisers.
Jobs are under attack from privatisation and massive cuts which they fear will hit the poor and the elderly who depend on public health services to remain in tact.
Organisers of the Keep Our NHS Pubic campaign say health services are being used to pay for Government bank bail-outs.
So they are holding a public meeting on November 11 at Bethnal Green's Oxford House centre in Derbyshire Street, off Bethnal Green Road, at 6pm, to discuss cuts of 40 per cent to hospital services.
Speakers include Dr Kambiz Boomla who chairs the City & East London GPs' committee, Bethnal Green & Bow MP George Galloway, London Health Emergency's John Lister and 'people representatives' from pensioners, hospital patients, health workers and striking lecturers at Tower Hamlets College.
