TEENAGERS have taken over a London theatre to stage their own play at the weekend about a time when having fun is banned.
Some 30 youngsters from the East End and from Bermondsey are staging a production about a sterile world where over-protective parents have outlawed play.
It tells the story of youngsters who escape their restrictive surroundings to find themselves in a fairground, where they rediscover the meaning of fun.
The youngsters are performing at the Unicorn's Weston Theatre near London Bridge on Saturday and Sunday (August 8 and 9), working with a professional arts team.
The Unicorn is a year-round scheme for 10 to 16 who live or go to school in Tower Hamlets and Southwark. They don't need drama experience, just enthusiasm to take part.
