Mr Fitzpatrick is one of four MPs who police bosses believe are most at risk from Islamic extremists.
The news comes just weeks after the stabbing of Stephen Timms MP - police have now confirmed the attack will be treated as a terrorist investigation.
Mr Fitzpatrick told the Advertiser: "It's business as usual for me.
"I have no plans to increase my security and I'll be holding my regular constituency surgeries just as I have for the last 13 years.
