Lutfur Rahman met Roman Catholic leaders in London’s East End as the New Year campaign for May’s elections for Tower Hamlets mayor got under way.
He was invited to Bishop Challoner Catholic Collegiate School in Shadwell on Tuesday to meet 60 leading figures and community members.
“This demonstrates how important faith continues to be in the modern world,” he said. “It shows in particular how it can make a real difference within our multi-faith community.”
He met the Catholic Dean of Tower Hamlets, Father Michael Dunne, and Bishop Challoner’s headteacher Jackie Johnson, as well as priests from churches and representatives from all nine Catholic primary schools.
