Some 34 schools out of 65 are boycotting the tests as part of a national protest, Tower Hamlets council has confirmed.
Teaching unions argue that the tests disrupt children's learning and are 'misused' to compile league tables.
The tests run all week, with more than 600,000 primary school pupils scheduled for testing.
